Weeeeee waaaaaaaaaaa ................

What a suprise Joe Cocker and I had yesterday.  We had just arrived at Canada Common in the New Forest for our afternoon walk when weeee waaaaaa, weeeee waaaaaa and flashing lights came thundering down the track.  We turned round and there in front of us were raging flames and thick black smoke .....................

But ............. false alarm ............... someone, probably a dog walker, must have called the fire brigade without realising that the gorse was being burnt ......... controlled burning as they call it.  So good and bad news.  Thank goodness the forest wasn't burning out of control but think of the cost of the fire brigade coming out on a false alarm.  Where were the usual signs methinks, warning that the work was being carried out.  Hey ho - more wasted money.

  1. I would have been scared. We live in a high bush fire area and had severe fires two years ago. Thankfully we have had a damp summer so that has lessened the threat this year. I hope your future walks are less eventful. :)
