All finished and dusted .....

How clever that from a few balls of gorgeous yarn ......

And hours of patient knitting ........

Strange shapes can grow .......

Into fab garments .....

And how lovely that the gals want cosy handknits. Rosie wanted a cuddly, stripey jumper. Magic yarn became a lovely, vintage style pattern.

Fancy Meeting You Here!

Out dog walking and met lots of new friends .........

The village next door holds an annual scarecrow competition.

So many take part.

And go to a lot of effort.

It's a shame more villages and streets don't do it. Mind you, Joe Cocker was rather frightened of these chaps.

Falling into Autumn

Autumn has arrived. There are signs all around. From 'growths' on the trees .......

To the pigs rummaging for acorns in the Forest ........

Early morning cobwebs on the gorse .......

To toadstools popping up overnight ....... the fairies will be pleased.

And pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere.

It's Birthday Time!

It's Mabel's 15th Birthday today. Great excitement all round. Up bright and early for card opening. Presents later, after school, and after a spot of ear piercing.

Cake baked and ready to go. A batch of cupcakes and chocolates have already gone into school.

Nothing like a bit of Emma Bridgewater wrapping paper to brighten the day.

Happy Birthday Mabel. x

Here's one I made earlier ......

Some bits and bobs from Vic Loves To Knit ...... lovely, cuddly vintage-style cardigans just like your Aunt used to wear.
With pretty buttons and .......
..... knitted flower brooches.
And how about a Dishy Dish Cloth to brighten up those mundane chores.

A rainy day in the country ........

What a difference a day can make. From the glorious warm sunshine of yesterday to torrential rain today. So a little paperwork in my little den ............

And a little cooking .... poached pears .... a favourite with Mabel, who returned tired and exhausted from a German exchange trip last night .....
A yummy cake for Rosie to nibble at between shifts of her Gap year jobs ......

At least the garden is having a nice drink ...... hopefully the rain will stop before I have to venture outside again .........

Here I go ......

At last I think I may be mastering this blogging lark and am now ready to start my new-age diary and scrapbook.

Let's begin with the countryside around. Being on the edge of the New Forest we are blessed with beautiful nooks and crannies all around. From the local church where Mabel was christened, just a short walk across an undulating field, to leafy glades of the Forest itself.

Joe Cocker is a lucky boy ..... so many lovely smells and country friends ......

The locals catch brown trout in the River Blackwater which trickles past our house.

So the scene is set ...........
